John Hall Owner, Executive Director

John's hearty laugh, constant smile and boundless energy have become trademarks of Camp Horizons over the past 29 years. His contagious enthusiasm and love of camps, the outdoors and children serve as the foundation for Camp Horizons and its philosophy of blending challenging and fun activities with a supportive community to create a home away from home where campers can learn new things, try new activities, meet new friends and discover new abilities. John was an Eagle Scout, a camp counselor for several years, and traveled with Up With People before settling in Harrisonburg to pursue his life-long dream of operating a summer camp. As a result of John’s business endeavors and achievements, he received the 2009 Entrepreneur of the Year award from the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce.

 

Chris Smith Director of Outdoor Programs

A new addition to the Horizons family, Chris has a background as a director of summer resident camps, adventure programs, environmental education programs and conference/retreat services. His experience with private, agency, and non-profit camps provides a unique perspective as he oversees Camp Horizons and other Endless Horizons subsidiaries. Chris is committed to ensuring that Camp Horizons is a safe, nurturing environment that promotes the growth of each camper. Originally from Harrisonburg, Chris is happy to be back in the area with his wife, Mandi, and their two young children. In his spare time, Chris enjoys hiking, camping and whitewater river paddling in West Virginia.
