Activities

Camp Horizons Family Camp offers a schedule with some of our most popular camp activities. All activities, including all-camp activities and evening programs, are included in your registration cost.  Activity choices offered during the periods rotate throughout the day, so you’ll have an opportunity to try a variety of things. Activities will be limited within the boundaries of safety, equipment, or staffing requirements. We wrap up the day with a fun and unique Evening Program, leaving you free after that for a village campfire or stargazing.

Activities will include camp classics like ropes activities, farm, garden, and nature offerings, and of course watercraft and arts & crafts! Even a visit for ring activities and horse care lessons are included in your registration fee. Not interested in our staffed activities? Feel free to check out sports equipment to use around camp’s common areas or play some board or card games as a family.

Food + Beverage

Full days at camp require refueling with hearty family style meals! Chef Rob and the fantastic dining team will be serving elevated versions of our camp classics – guaranteed to please a variety of palates. If you or any family members have any dietary restrictions or food allergies, please make sure they are noted on your registration form. Most needs can be accommodated, please call us if you have any specific questions!

Meals will be served buffet style, as we offer our Explorer Campers during the summer, in camp’s Main Dining Hall. As always, we will have an alternative nut butter and jelly station, and salad bar available and lunch and dinner, and cereal station at breakfast, for any folks not interested in the main hot food options being served.

Families are permitted to bring their own food and drinks. The Swap Shop will also be stocked with the famed Big Bopper Cookie Sandwiches and traditional snack options, so if you’re missing anything we’ve got you covered. As you are packing for your stay we do ask that you keep a few things in mind:

  • We are a nut-aware camp, please do not bring any food that contains peanuts or tree nuts.
  • Because of our location in the woods, we recommend that any food you bring stays sealed in a plastic container.
  • Alcohol is allowed; however, we do not permit glass containers of any kind. Please use moderation if drinking during your stay. Alcohol is not permitted in any activity areas.

Lodging

The “camp” in Family Camp is best experienced by camping out in our bunk style lodging! Each village hosts a number of cabins as well as a communal campfire circle. Each family will be housed in an individual cabin complete with restroom and shower. Families are expected to bring their own bed and bath linens.

During Family Camp we will be using Starlight, Sunrise, and Sunset Villages. Standard cabin rentals are assigned, and we will not be honoring cabin number or village requests. Cabin maximums vary by village. Families may request to share a cabin.
